I started on Alone in the Dark back in march 2022 and was responsible for the whole UI as a Lead Artist. Together with my Art Director Rikkard Ryberg, we figured out the style and set up all the final layouts. After that I was responsible for 3 UI coders and one tech artist to get all the screens into the game.
I for myself got my hands on Unreal 4 and UMG as well. So I basically did not only send assets to coders for implementation, but also set up screens directly in the engine as well.
Especially in the final phase of the project I was responsible for tweaking the layouts, setting up basic blueprints and screens and even added basic functions for simple animations.
I also invited Daniel Hanhardt again for assisting me in technical UI stuff, such as shaders and materials we wanted to use for some more advanced animations (for example when picking up an item or opening up the investigations menu).
Alone in the Dark was a great project to work on and thanks a lot to the management of THQ Nordic that brought me on board.
I hope the work on it and the game itself gets more attention now, especially all the talented people that were involved!
EDIT: I've also attached a lot of development progress screen and unused material to give a better overview on how we achieved the final screens and layouts.
